ABOUT

Christopher Lockett is an award-winning Los Angeles-based cinematographer, director, photographer, and singer-songwriter.

He holds an MFA in Cinematography from the American Film Institute, and a BA in English Literature from Clemson University. He is an IATSE Local 600 Camera Operator, and is an FAA 107 licensed drone pilot.

Lockett has photographed or directed films that have done well on the festival circuit, appearing as official selections at: Newport Beach, Atlanta, River Run, Outfest, Hong Kong, Rome, Cinemasia, Film Invasion LA, Cambodia International, Columbus, LA Shorts, Phnom Penh, Berlin International Women’s, Cambodia Town, and Lone Star Film Festival.

His work on TV has been seen on PBS, CBS, Hallmark, Bravo, TLC, BBC, NBC, ABC, Fox, Discovery, and Amazon Prime.

An active stills photographer when not shooting motion pictures, Lockett shoots a variety of digital and traditional analogue formats including panoramic, medium, and large format. He has exhibited in Los Angeles and Atlanta, and has photographed album covers, portraits, ad campaigns, and concerts.

As a musician, he has released three records on Gritbiscuit Records, performs regularly on Los Angeles stages, does not tour as much as he’d like to, and has drawn favorable reviews from No Depression, and American Songwriter magazine.

His work thus far has taken him to five continents. He sees no major difference between the level of storytelling that can be done working on a soundstage with a full crew on a scripted narrative, and in being alone in the bush with a camera, a backpack full of media cards, and batteries.

Films, photos, songs, they’re all stories. The important part is how well we tell them.
